Mission
The Chapel Pulpit is dedicated to expository exultation -
that is, the systematic exposition of the Bible, paragraph by paragraph
with clarity, conviction and passion. |
|
|
We believe the public ministry of the Word in preaching ought to
explain the Word of God so as to press truths home to the heart, to change
the way we think and to change what we desire so that our lives will be
transformed. The preaching takes the text or topic and unpacks the flow
of the argument, clarifying it with illustrations and applying it to our
day and time. This is done with a passion for God and enabled by the
Holy Spirit. Our Pastor for Preaching and Spiritual Formation, Russ Kennedy,
normally fills the pulpit for the ministry of the Word. |

Sunday
Morning
|
The morning service is dedicated to preaching through books of the
Bible. Over the last 4 years, for example, we have preached 1 & 2
Thessalonians, 1& 2 Timothy, Romans, Malachi, Ezekiel, Hebrews,
Genesis, Galatians as well as others. We
are currently preaching through Exodus. |
Sunday
Evening
|
The evening service is dedicated to developing a Closer Walk
with the Lord. The sermons are topical or thematic expositions often
dealing with issues in the Christian life or in our culture. The
teaching elders usually occupy the pulpit in the evening services. |
|
|
In our neighborhood small groups, the study time is usually
dedicated to a discussion of the Sunday ministry of the Word. This
gives the congregation the opportunity to ask questions, clarify
misunderstandings and share personal applications so as to grow and
change. |
