Pastoral Search

We are looking for our next Pastor for Preaching.

By God’s grace and his sustaining hand, Clearcreek Chapel is looking for a biblically qualified man to serve as a full-time Pastor for Preaching by joining our eldership and faithfully shepherding our congregation with the Word of God.

Why are we looking?

Our current pastor for preaching has served us faithfully for many years, however he cannot continue forever. We are grateful for his ministry and intend that he will continue to serve on the eldership in the future. Our initial plan was to raise up a man from within our congregation, however we do not have anyone who is interested, available, and qualified.

In wisdom at the request of the elders, we are beginning to search for someone outside of our congregation to serve in this role.

What are we looking for?

  • A Man of God

First, we are looking for a man of God who is known for exhibiting the fruit of the spirit (Gal. 5:22-23), and faithfully studies and lives out the word of God (2 Tim. 2:15).

  • Biblically Qualified

Second, as outlined by the Scriptures, we are seeking an elder qualified man (1 Tim. 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9).

  • A Shepherd

Third, we are looking for a man who has a shepherd’s heart for God’s people, gifted and spirit-enabled to preach God’s word with conviction and compassion.

Pulpit Expectations

We value preaching that is expositional following the emphasis and landscape of the Scriptures. We apply many principles from the Charles Simeon Trust and David Helm’s book, Expositional Preaching.

We make much of Christ in our preaching. To that end, we are deeply committed to a new covenant perspective that magnifies Christ in all the Scriptures.

What will the process look like?

Step 1: Apply

Fill out the form below, then review and complete the initial materials that will be sent to you to get the process started. If you have any questions or would like more information, please email us.

You may reach out to us at any time with questions or clarifications. The elders are happy to serve you.

Step 2: Observation

In keeping with biblical qualifications, we will observe you over a period of time in your own setting and at Clearcreek, discussing with those who know you well.

We plan to extend invitations to preach (travel expenses paid), perform a formal background check, and provide opportunities to meet with the elders of Clearcreek.

Step 3: Integration

As we reach an agreement on the fit in the role, we will begin the process of integrating the man into our eldership and into the role through an intentional transition period.

Over time, as you become more comfortable and settled in your role, you may request to take on additional responsibilities and ministries that fit your interests and gifting.

How to Apply

To get started, please:

FAQs

  • Yes! We budget and plan for a full-time salary to support a man and his family, with a housing stipend, health insurance, and a retirement plan.

  • The candidate will transition into the role by joining the preaching rotation. Over a period of time (estimated 6 months to 1 year) you will transition to be the main preaching pastor, phasing out our current preaching pastor. We will provide discipleship and mentorship over this time.

  • No. We operate under elder plurality. This means each elder gets one vote, and we are all considered equals with areas of oversight and leadership.

  • All decisions and doctrinal affirmations by the Elders must be unanimous. For matters of preference and wisdom, elders will be prepared to give way to a majority opinion if required.

For statements of doctrine, we seek to write in a way that represents truth, while still allowing a unanimous affirmation. If there is a disagreement over the statement of a doctrine:

If the dissent is over the Book of Faith and Order and no unanimity can be reached, the dissenting elder will withdraw his dissent or resign from the Elders.

  • No. As an elder-led church, the elders will make the decision on the candidate. However, we plan to ask the congregation to affirm our decision as part of the process.
